Thai TTS audio on tts.audio runs on two MAI Voice 2 voices: Krit (male) and Nattapong (male). Both produce Standard Thai, the official language of Thailand spoken by roughly 60 million people, and the variety used in Thai broadcast media, education, and government communication. Thai is a tonal language with five distinct tones (mid, low, falling, high, rising) that change word meaning. The MAI voices reproduce tones correctly based on the written Thai script and the tone rules applied to consonant class and vowel length. Both voices support thirteen expressive styles. Use cases for Thai TTS include e-learning localization for the Thai market, accessibility audio for Thai-language government and corporate documentation, pronunciation reference for English-speaking learners of Thai, and audiobook drafts. For a female Thai voice, switch to the Gemini multilingual model. PDF upload handles the Thai script natively, including the tone marks, vowel symbols, and the silent consonant markers (การันต์).

Thai TTS — frequently asked questions
Reviewed by Antonio Foti, Founder. Updated July 2026.
Is there a female Thai voice?
Not on MAI Voice 2; only Krit and Nattapong (both male) are shipped. For a female Thai voice, switch to the Gemini multilingual model in the voice picker.
Do the voices handle Thai tones correctly?
Yes. Thai has five tones (mid, low, falling, high, rising) and the MAI voices reproduce them based on the written script and the standard tone rules. Tone marks on top of initial consonants are read correctly.
Does Thai TTS handle the Thai alphabet correctly in PDF upload?
Yes. PDF upload preserves the Thai script (Consonants, vowels, tone marks, and silent consonant markers called การันต์). All Thai characters are rendered correctly in the extracted text.
